About
Hi there!
My name is Sophie Keeler and I currently am a student at the University of Alabama pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. I am the recipient of UA's Presidential Scholarship, am a member of the Honors College, and received the President's List designation this past semester. During my time at the University of Alabama, I am involved with UA's Dance Marathon as a member of the Miracle Committee, RISE Preschool as a volunteer, UA Red Cross Club, and am a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. After graduation, I hope to ultimately pursue a doctoral degree in Nurse Anesthesia, and work as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
After 15 years of dance training, I love continuing my passion through the talent portion of the Miss America competition format. Before graduating high school, I was a senior captain of my dance team, placed in the top three at both MSHSL Sections & State Dance Team competitions, was a member of the All-State Dance Team, received a "Most Outstanding Dancer" award at Just For Kix Camp, and was the female Chaska High School Academics, Arts, & Athletics (Triple “A”) award recipient. In addition to dancing with my high school dance team and my local dance studio, I also performed in featured dance and singing roles in Chaska HIgh School's production of Singin' In the Rain, and received an evaluator Shout Out from Minnesota Spotlight Theater Awards for my performance as the "Green Lady."
In addition to dancing, I love to sing and make music! I was a three year member of the Minnesota State Honor Choir in middle school, and continued my love for music as a member of Chaska High School choirs and ensembles. I am self taught in guitar, ukulele, and piano, and love to combine singing with these musical instruments. One of my favorite volunteer experiences is performing music at nursing homes, as music can help with memory loss.
This June, I will be competing in the Miss Minnesota state competition as Miss Heartland. This is my first title with the Miss America Organization and I am thrilled to have this platform which enables me to impact my community in new ways. As a component of this involvement, I am an advocate for blood donation awareness, and volunteer as a Blood Donor Ambassador with the Red Cross. My social impact initiative: "The Right Type to Save a Life," emphasizes the importance of regular voluntary blood donation, which I love to share with others. While I am an avid blood donor myself and passionate about blood donation, I also emphasize volunteerism as an important aspect of my platform. From volunteers to donors, everyone is The Right Type to Save a Life!
I'm excited to share my life with you and I hope you enjoy following my journey!
