They say “timing is everything,” and they might just be right. It seemed the original timing of the Sweeps competition couldn’t have been better. It was scheduled during my spring break and located less than 3 miles from home, so I was thrilled! But apparently mother nature and blizzard warnings have their own sense of timing -- and Sweeps was rescheduled for this past Friday, April 5th.
Sweeps 2.0 was an incredible whirlwind experience, and not just because of the crown I got to bring back in my suitcase! I flew home Thursday after classes, and spent the evening squeezing in one last rehearsal and packing, which meant I fell asleep late and woke up early. I was too excited to sleep during the 3 hour drive the morning of the competition. I was thrilled at the opportunity to compete, and was really excited to meet all of the other girls. Rehearsals and interviews flew by, and I was over the moon with excitement about having such an amazing group of young women to compete with that night. Every candidate was beautiful and talented, and it was such a blast to get to know everyone's story and to support each other throughout the day. When the final hours approached, I was at peace. God placed a feeling of humility and peace over my heart, and I knew that no matter the outcome, I was a winner because of the experiences, connections and relationships I was creating. I was undeniably myself, and ended up being blessed with the title of Miss Heartland 2019, which means the opportunity to go to Miss Minnesota this June! It still feels like I am dreaming! Wow have I ever learned so much throughout this journey. I cannot wait to keep growing and to keep learning God's lessons for me in the future, and particularly the next few months leading up to Miss Minnesota! Thank you for all of the support and I am so excited to continue to update you all through this website. "When the time is right, I, The Lord, will make it happen." Isaiah 60:22
